I stopped reading the NYT about a year after the 10/7 attacks. I am neither Jewish nor Israeli—I can’t imagine reading it as a Jew or an Israeli and not losing one’s ever loving mind. You are doing a great job and this article was quite informative. Send it to the NYT as a letter to editor.
Daniel, I was initially confused by your headline, but I know you well enough to know that I needed to read your article. It was excellent, as always. I forwarded it to my own list and one person unsubscribed, possibly because he read only the headline. I've had people angrily accuse me of "switching sides" when they've read only a headline. I've tried to make my headlines clearer since then, but it's sad when people only read headlines. I wrote an article about Trump in 2015, and the long headline gets cut off in most emails. I've had people compliment me on the article who I know haven't read it because our politics are 180 degrees off. Oh well.
NYT is in direct, and steep, competition with the BBC (and a few others media houses) to see who can achieve the ‘zero credibility’ status fastest. I expect a photo finish between them, CNN, NPR and a few others.
The Dhimmi Wokesters will tell you that Izlam was peacefully conquering the Mediterranean Basin from Barbary Coast to Barbary Coast until The Evil Christian Crusaders showed up.
Thanks for sharing. That’s a bit misleading: Shas resigned their cabinet positions, but did not leave the government coalition. Therefore Netanyahu’s coalition still retains a majority for now. I know there have been some headlines to the contrary, but they are mathematically incorrect, and based on a misunderstanding of how the Knesset works. In any case, none of that is relevant to Netanyahu‘s standing in electoral polls, which is an entirely different mathematical equation.

And what is the deal with Bergman?
Too many critics of Israel have made the rookie mistake of conflating Netanyahu’s personal agenda with the conduct of this very just war.
Thanks for setting the record straight.
Thank you for this piece of exceptional clarity and depth. I felt that I learnt so much while reading this. Keep up the excellent work.

Good point. I’ve hurt myself with headlines that were too “cute.”
Yea, I wondered what effect that headline would have, guess now we know. Thanks for trusting and sharing!
The post is still getting shared around it seems, so I went ahead and tweaked the title.
Everyone should read this article! Yours, that is:))

Or: How the NYT united all sane Israelis, haters and lovers of Bibi alike.

The useless nyt
To be fair to the idea that a mere indictment should be sufficient to cause a PM to step down, that was Netanyahu's own stance back in 2008!
The NYT is so full of it…..
